the gardens of the castle
A sumptuous site of greenery in the palace of the Sun King.
Louis XIV, jealous of the splendor displayed by Fouquet at Vaux-le-Vicomte, ordered from Le Nôtre the most splendid gardens for Versailles. In just a few years, the famous gardener managed to blossom remarkable scenery in spite of the swampy terrain. The Grandes Eaux allows you to fully appreciate this masterpiece. More intimate, the Petit Trianon and the Domain of Marie Antoinette reveal an art of living inspired by the freedom of thought of the Age of Enlightenment.

the domain of trianon
Dedicated to the intimacy of sovereignty, the locations offers remarkable buildings embedded within gardens.
Not far from the castle, Louis XIV gave free rein to his love of architecture and gardens by creating an area restricted to his personal leisure. Built upon a former village, the location naturally retained its former name : Trianon. Louis XV and later queen Marie Antoinette fell under the spell of this place and contributed to develop and embellish it.
